The children have come from 5 different countries. Maruko and her friends are thrown into a panic as these foreign children are to stay at their homes by the request of their friend Hanawa. Andrea, a boy from Italy, is to stay at Maruko’s home. Maruko and her friends have a good time with them at school and travelling outside their town to visit Osaka and Kyoto over the weekend. At first, Maruko is perplexed by Andrea’s active approach; yet, she comes to understand him once she learns why he came to Japan.
